It is very common to find fish vertebrae in the Cretaceous sites in the south of Morocco. However, very few sellers can offer a reliable taxonomic classification. This is a complete vertebra of this very rare giant fish of filter feeder diet. It is one of the biggest fish of the whole Kem Kem association. It does not have any restoration or reparation. It still preserves a thin layer of the gravelly natural sediment in its surface.
The abundant fish fauna which can be found in the cretaceous layers of the Kem Kem Basin is large and varied. Recently Cavin et al., (2015) made an important revision of the cretaceous association of continental fish in the south of Morocco. Link:
